The Best Time To Start Waxing

Believe it or not the best time to start waxing is now. Winter may be the season you never leave your home with bare legs or wear a bathing suit so many people think there must be no reason to continue waxing or think it would be crazy to start now but that is a big mistake.

Waxing takes 3-4 waxes before your hair is growing on the same growth cycle. Now you may be wondering what that means but you know how hair on your head falls out all the time yet you still have hair? Body hair is the same! This happens because hair has a growth cycle and there are 3 stages in the cycle. During the first stage the hair is actively growing out of the follicle while in the second stage the hair is detached from the follicle meaning the hair is just sitting there. The third stage is the stage where the hair falls out and then a new hair forms to start off in the first stage, the growth stage. This cycle is the reason you constantly have hair falling out but because it grows back in you always have hair.

Why does this mean this is the time to start waxing? Before waxing your hairs are in different stages. Typically 80% of your hairs are in the growth phase at all times so your first wax will still be very smooth and have great results but your hairs will grow in at different times. After a few waxes 100% of your hairs will be on the same growth cycle meaning your wax will last you longer, the hairs will be much thinner and each wax gets easier. As the hairs are pulled from the follicle, the follicle becomes damaged making the hair thinner and over time it can stop growing in.

How should you prepare for your first wax? For your first wax it is essential to grow you hair at least a 1/4 of an inch, or the size of a grain of rice. Exfoliating is a top priority when it comes to waxing. Hairs can become matted down or ingrown under your skin so I recommend exfoliating before your wax for best results.
